Paleo Air Fryer Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard
Harkening back to younger days with these Paleo Air Fryer Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard. It’s hard to name a more iconic kids meal than the good ole chicken tender. These chicken tenders hit that nostalgic note but are even better than those childhood favorites because they come with a healthy twist!
Made using only almond flour, tapioca flour, eggs, and spices, these chicken tenders are paleo friendly, low carb, and so easy to throw together. They are also free from those unhealthy fats that are traditionally used to deep fry tendies. However, just because they’re healthier, doesn’t mean they’re any less delicious! This has been one of our go-to dinner recipes throughout the past year because it’s so incredibly simple, tasty, and hits that comfort food chord. Seriously. I cannot count the amount of times we’ve made this recipe during the pandemic. It’s been a taste of nostalgia during these uneasy times to say the least.
But what’s a good chicken tender without a complementary dipping sauce to go with? The honey mustard dipping sauce is just the right amount of tangy and sweet, and it goes perfectly with the flavors of the chicken breading.
I cannot recommend these Paleo Air Fryer Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard enough. Whip them up with some sweet potato fries and a veggie for a super easy, healthy, delicious, and fun dinner. You’ll certainly make that inner child of yours happy!

Paleo Air Fryer Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Total time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients
Chicken Tenders
1 ½ lb chicken breast tenderloins (tenders)
1 cup tapioca flour
1 cup almond flour
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp oregano
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 egg
Honey Mustard
¼ cup spicy brown mustard (I’m a fan of Primal Kitchen)
1 tbsp whole grain dijon mustard
1 ½ tbsp honey
Instructions
Pat the chicken tenders dry with a paper towel. Lightly coat in tapioca flour. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix together the almond flour, smoked paprika, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper until well combined. In a second bowl, whisk the egg until fully scrambled.
Take the chicken tenders and first dip them in the egg, until coated. Next dip them in the almond flour mix and toss, gently pressing mixture onto the tender until fully covered. Place on a plate and repeat for remaining tenders.
Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick olive oil spray. Carefully place the tenders into the basket, make sure they have space between them and are not touching. Air fry for at 400℉ for 10 minutes (until internal temperature of chicken reaches 165℉).
Meanwhile, in a small bowl add the spicy brown mustard, whole grain dijon, and honey. Whisk together until completely combined.
Once tenders are done, serve with honey mustard sauce and enjoy!
